( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
- ★ NAME:Tauriel
- ★ AGE: There is no official source stating her age, however in interviews Evangeline Lilly has stated that she is around 600 years old. Based on a statement made by Legolas in the film, she is probably at least slightly older than 600 exactly since she was alive and very young when her parents were murdered.
- ★ CANON POINT: Post film, "Desolation of Smaug".
- ★ CANON INFORMATION: Tauriel at the Lord of the Rings Wiki

- ★ PERSONALITY: Tauriel is a young elf, roughly around 600 years old, whose parents were killed by orcs when she was very young (according to her backstory as stated by the actress who portrayed her in the film) and has the natural tendencies of her particular subset of the elven race, meaning she is much quicker to display her emotions. Thranduil might calmly cut off an orc's head, but Tauriel's Ferocity prompts her to react to its taunting and threats toward Kili. Tauriel has a temper and under the right circumstances it is easily brought to the surface. Her Bravery is without question however, as she's more than willing to face down giant spiders and orcs as she is to stand in front of her king. She is more than willing to throw herself into danger on behalf of her kingdom, and go out into the world completely unknowing as to what awaits her.

Because she is young, and has yet to truly experience the world, she displays a great deal of Idealism. When Tauriel is convinced of a principle, she commits to it. She truly believes that the elves, particularly the Mirkwood elves, should participate in the battle to keep Middle Earth free of evil. She rejects her father figure’s xenophobic policies and leaves Mirkwood with the conviction that she must remain true to her believes. She even goes so far as to convince Legolas of the need for the service to the greater good.

Her idealism is also hand in hand with her Curiosity regarding the outside world which she seems eager to protect despite having seen so little of it. When she and the other elves of the Mirkwood Guard capture the dwarves, she is interested in the stone Kili carries and the runes on it, and is almost immediately captivated by the stories of his travels. While she cares for her homeland, she also wants to see more of the world.

Fortunately, given that Tauriel allows her emotions ride close to the surface, it is not only true for her temper, but also for her sense of humor and playfulness. She banters with her friends, doesn't hesitate to volley suggestive dialogue back and forth with cheeky dwarves, and takes a certain pleasure and pride in her skills as a warrior - when she goes after the giant spiders who attack the Company in Mirkwood she is actually smiling as she kills them.

The three most important figures in her life are all male, and have distinctive roles to play. Thranduil is first and foremost her king, but is also responsible for having seen to her well-being after the death of her parents. While she has a deep and abiding respect for him and is proud to serve him, she is also frustrated with his xenophobia. It also hurts her somewhat that despite all her accomplishments, there are some circumstances in which he has made no secret of the fact that to him, she is "a lowly Sylvan elf". Having defied him in deference to what she genuinely believes to be the greater good, she is on uncertain terms where Thranduil is concerned, not knowing whether he will forgive her or not, even if Legolas is confident that he would.

She has known Legolas all her life. They have been constant companions, sibs-in-arms, and friends in the truest sense, addressing each other with the term "mellon" - the Elvish word for friend which is not casually used - quite frequently. There is no one that Tauriel trusts more to have her back, even when they do not agree on something, and their disagreements are frequent. Tauriel is aware of Legolas' intense dislike for dwarves, and given her recently developing affinity for Kili, it may put a strain on their friendship, added to what is already putting it to the test - Tauriel has defied his father, and he made the decision to follow her, disobeying the order to shut themselves away from the world because he's willing to trust in Tauriel's vision of what is needed for the greater good.

Kili has only recently come into her acquaintance, but their connection is strong. His humor after being captured by her people caught her attention initially, but his stories of his adventures in the outside world were what kept her for long hours at his prison cell door. She finds herself genuinely concerned and willing to take great risks on his behalf when she finds out he is potentially mortally injured, and invokes healing magic on his behalf in order to keep him from dying. When Kili confesses his affection for her while recovering, Tauriel does not openly reciprocate his feelings, but she does not reject them and seems uncertain of how to respond.

The idea of even a friendship between an elf and a dwarf, much less anything deeper, is something those around her have indicated as anathema on several levels. Elves and dwarves have never seen eye to eye in terms of the principles they value, with the elves regarding the dwarves as ugly, greedy and uncouth. While the elven language has a word for the dwarves, gonhirrim (masters of stone) they also have a more derogatory word, naugrim (stunted people). Where Thranduil specifically is concerned, his refusal to aid the dwarves of Erebor when Smaug attacked the Kingdom Under the Mountain is a major point of contention between him and Thorin. While not all elves seem to universally regard dwarves with distaste, and Tauriel is certainly free to make certain choice for herself, she must reconcile the ingrained social taboos that may come to bear because of her association and care for Kili.

- ★ COURT ALLIANCE: Seelie. She falls firmly within its principles, especially as someone who has been entrusted with the protection of her people. When she defies her king, she does it because she believes the risk is worth it to save not just her people, but the world. She speaks with great joy of the beauty of the stars, and longs to experience more of the world's beauty beyond that. Elves as a race are inherently a manifestation of goodness, and by their very nature they reject that which is foul and unclean.

- ★ ABILITIES:

Immortality - Elves age exceedingly slowly, and while they can be killed, they do not die of old age, nor do they fall prey to illness. The only true sickness they can fall to is a sort of weariness that comes with the long length of their life, and they do not necessarily die so much as "fade away".

Enhanced Physicality - Elves are effectively stronger, faster, and more resilient than humans. They do not need to sleep, can see sharp details hundreds of yards ahead of them, and are so light on their feet they can walk on top of snowbanks. They are able to perform physical feats of incredible dexterity; climbing, leaping, performing trick-shots with a bow in mod-air, while surfing down the back of an oliphant, or standing on the heads of a pair of dwarves in barrels going down river rapids.

Healing Magic - Tauriel is able to perform healing magic powerful enough to heal mortal wounds with enough time and the proper herbs. This sort of magic is not something she does every day and not for common ailments and injuries. Working with athelas (known by some as "kingsfoil") she is able to heal a wound inflicted by a Morgul arrow.

- ★ INVENTORY: Her bow and quiver full of arrows, two Mirkwood elven long knives, a few sprigs of athelas, and the clothes on her back (which include her necklace).

[The visual option is selected on Tauriel's locket.]

There have been a great deal of queries regarding this, so I thought perhaps I might offer some further information. No few of you have asked me about assistance in furthering their skill with a bow. I am happy to offer my time and knowledge if there is an interest; though I am certain you will find that I can be something of a stern but fair taskmistress.

I am also ill acquainted with the nature of human limitation. In as much as it would be a learning experience for any prospective student, it would likewise be one as well. that being said, if you are not human and have an interest, I shall endeavor to adjust my expectations accordingly.

History: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Tauriel

Personality: Tauriel is a young elf, roughly around 600 years old, and the natural tendencies of her particular subset of the elven race often mean she is much quicker to display her emotions. Thranduil might calmly cut off an orc's head, but Tauriel's Ferocity prompts her to react to its taunting and threats toward Kili. Tauriel has a temper and under the right circumstances it is easily stoked. Her Bravery is without question however, as she's more than willing to face down giant spiders and orcs as she is to stand in front of her king (who has basically also been her father figure for most of her life) and challenge his decisions. That being said, she is more than willing to throw herself into danger on behalf of her kingdom, and then go out into the world completely unknowing as to what awaits her.

Because she is young, and has yet to truly experience the world, she displays a great deal of Idealism. When Tauriel is convinced of a principle, she commits to it. She truly believes that the elves, particularly the Mirkwood elves , should participate in the battle to keep Middle Earth free of evil.

When she and the other elves of the Mirkwood Guard capture the dwarves, she is interested in the stone he carries and the runes on it, and is almost immediately captivated stories of his travels. While she cares for her homeland, she also wants to see more of the world.

Fears: While she has no particular phobias, Tauriel does have a few particular fears, in varying levels of severity. Perhaps less of a fear and more of a dread, the xenophobia her king has exhibited in closing off his kingdom has prompted her to defy his orders. Evil is moving in her world, and it worries and frightens her to think of the havoc it can wreak. Her relationship with Thranduil is both of liege and father-figure and even though she has defied him, there is certainly worry that he will ultimately reject her, after already being an orphan once. There is also of course, the racial tensions and stigma that comes with her growing fondness for Kili, and her fear for his safety.

Weaknesses: In general, Silvan elves are regarded as "less wise, and more dangerous". Tauriel is more likely to react violently in certain situations where most elves would give pause to consider. She tends to wear her emotions closer to the surface than most of her kind, though this may be accounted for the fact that she is younger and more of an idealist by comparison. There are also three people she holds in high regard, and threatening them or causing them harmm in varying degree would easily be a means to control her: Thranduil, Legolas, and Kili, the lattermost of which involves socially unacceptable affection.

Mundane Strengths/Abilities: Tauriel is the captain of the guard of Mirkwood, and second only to Legolas when it comes to using a bow. she can use any kind of blade, but prefers her paired daggers. She can perform athletic, acrobatic feats with ease, including climbing enormous trees, running at top speed for extended periods, and jumping at great heights and distances and landing safely.

Sensitivity/Magical Ability: Tauriel is an elf, and as such is physically more enhanced than a normal human or mortal. Naturally faster, stronger, and more enduring, elves are hardy enought that a dozen pints of mortal ale don't even make them tipsy Elves lives for thousands of years and are naturally Thus far, the only magic that Tauriel has displayed is the power to heal wounds. Utilizing herbs and chanting she is able to cure Kili of a lethally poisonous arrow wound. When she accesses magic she taps into the "inner light of the Eldar" which can cause her to glow if she draws deeply upon that power.

Supply List: Her clothes (which includes her leather armor), her necklace, her bow, a quiver of 26 arrows, two daggers, a few pieces of lembas bread, and a few sprigs of athelas.
